LEAGUES
FA Cup Merseyside Derby
Thursday, 12. April 2012
Nothing would please the ailing Liverpool side more than a victory
over their city rivals in the
FA Cup semifinals. The Reds won both league matches against
Everton this season, 0-2 away and 3-0 at home and are hoping to do
the same in a cup match on Wembley
Stadium.

It's been an increasingly frustrating season for Liverpool,
but there are two things which they've done well. Playing in cups
and playing against Everton. Liverpool took the Carling Cup title
advancing to the finals with victories over Stoke City, Chelsea and
Manchester City, to beat Cardiff in the title match. Liverpool is
also the most successful side in the competition, having won the
Carling Cup eight times. Liverpool
qualifed for the Europa League with winning the cup.
With their league season being as disappointing as it was, and Carling Cup not being highly regarded, Liverpool would also need a FA Cup trophy to save the season and so Kenny Dalglish can at least say his team was dominant in cups and took two titles in a season.
The Toffees have lost the FA Cup final to Chelsea three years ago and have enjoyed great success in the competition. Everton manager David Moyes is still more than happy to say Liverpool are the favorites in this clash, hoping to make an upset against a side which might be a bit relaxed following their two league victories over their arch rivals. Everton has been a tough nut to crack for everyone this season, except for Liverpool, who dominated both clashes.
Both sides had an easy route to semi-finals, as Everton won against Sunderland in two legs, and Liverpool took out Stoke City at home 2-1, throwing the Potters out of both cups this season despite not being able to beat them in the league.
Liverpool is given a good price od 2.460 at Betfair to win the Merseyside Derby for the third time this season, and Pinnacle Sports is giving 3.450 for Everton to hurt their arch rivals where it hurts the most and strip them of chances of winning the FA Cup title. A draw, which would bring the match to extra time and possibly penalties, is priced at 3.340 at Pinnacle Sports.
Suggestion:
Draw, 3.340, Pinnacle Sports
