Nadal - Nishikori

Sunday, 02. June 2013
After a 3-1 victory over Benoit Paire, Kei Nishikori is brimming with confidence as he prepared for the match against Rafael Nadal, who reached the fourth round of Roland Garros by beating Fabio Foginini of Italia 3-0.
Even though Rafael Nadal defeated Fabio Fognini in straight sets in the third round of Roland Garros, the Spaniard is yet to find the right form in Paris. Rafael Nadal won the first set tie-break 7:5 at Court Philippe Chatrier and then he started to play much better in the second set (6:4), although he lost his serve once more. The third and final set was the easiest one for the King of Clay who sealed the victory thanks to an early break. The third-seeded Spaniard is still eager to win his eight Roland Garros title, but given that he made no less then 40 unforced errors against Fognini, he will need to improve all segments of his game in order to turn the dream into reality.
Kei Nishikori did remarkably well to eliminate one of the home favourites Benoit Paire in the third round of Roland Garros. By beating the Frenchman Nishikori made history as he became the first Japanese to make it to the last 16 of Roland Garros in 75 years. Nonetheless, Nishikori was a bit lucky to advance to the fourth round of the Grand Slam, as Benoit Paire had a set point while leading 5:4 and Nishikori serving at 30:40 in the second set. Chair umpire Enric Molina gave the Frenchman a point penalty for coaching and Paire never looked like fighting back. Nishikori should certainly face a more difficult task against the best clay courter in the ATP World Tour.
Rafael Nadal should win this clash, but I would not be surprised if he losses a set against the Japanese in the fourth round of the French Open.
Bet on Nishikori with + 9.5 games at 1.67 (2/3) at Paddy Power.
